Ming Liang Lu’s current work is important to the children in Harlem because:
- it helps them understand more about Chinese art
- it encourages involvement
- i t gives them first-hand experience of someone from a different background and thus (and this is implied) helps them understand their own ethnicity and culture too
- it hopefully makes them more tolerant of others, and less ignorant of what others bring to the city and the country
- it may open up new worlds for them in the future.
