Answer
Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream! It comes from Florence in Italy and it dates back to 1565. A man called Bernardo Buontalenti created it in honour of Catherine de' Medici. It's very simple and there are only a few ingredients: a lot of milk, some cream and sugar. Other ingredients it can have are chocolate, fruits and nuts.
