Answer

  1. The extreme weather around the world is being caused by rising temperatures due to global warming.
  2. Melting ice in the Arctic is a problem for local people and animals because they depend on the ice for various reasons. The Inuit rely on the ice for transportation and hunting, and the local wildlife, such as polar bears, depend on the ice for hunting food. Additionally, the melting ice leads to thinner ice, which can cause buildings to collapse.
  3. The producers filmed The Revenant in Argentina because the planned filming location in Northern Canada near the Arctic Circle didn't have enough snow due to unusually warm weather.
  4. Fires in Australia are happening more frequently due to warmer weather increasing the risk of long droughts and severe forest fires.
  5. Global warming is affecting the UK by increasing the risk of flooding. In the winter of 2015-16, rivers burst their banks due to heavy rain, and coastal towns experienced flooding from galeforce winds and huge waves.
  6. Scientists expect the situation to worsen in the years ahead if significant global climate change policies are not implemented.
