- Because her mother is English, her father is Spanish and she grew up in Italy, so they spoke all three language at home.
- Because she grew up surrounded by books in her house.

- Because they were frightened to publish a book by a new author.
- Because she is grateful that they took a chance on her with her first book.
- Because she was busy with her two young children.
- Because her experiences helped her to grow up during her thirties. Her father died, she and her husband got divorced and she was alone with two children.
- Because work was going well, she was happy in a new relationship and her children were enjoying school. ( She realised it was going to be OK.)
