Question

Work in pairs. Discuss what you understand by the idea of self-medication. How might it apply to animals? Can you think of other ways in which humans self-medicate?

Answer

Self-medication means taking your own medicine to cure yourself. Animals eat certain foods or herbs depending on how they feel, or lick or wash wounds, or eat things to make them vomit. Humans, similarly, might choose to eat certain foods, use drugs or herbs, or take a hot bath, perhaps.
