Watch the second part of the video where the two men meet someone called Jimmy (1.29-4.51). Find out why the words and phrases in Exercise 3 are used. Then compare your ideas with your partner.

  1. East Africa is the easterly region of Africa stretching from Sudan to Mozambique. East African countries include Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
  2. The Bronx is an area of New York City, just to the north of the island of Manhattan. 
  3. issues = social problems (in this context)
  4. sheets = thin cotton material that you sleep under; blankets = thick, woollen material that you sleep under
  5. leopard = a big African cat with black spots on yellow fur
  6. sticks = long pieces of wood that you carry (e.g. a walking stick)
  7. dung = what elephants produce from behind after a large meal!
  8. the rest of my life = the years I still have left to live
