Look at these extracts from the conversation. Then work in pairs and answer the questions below.

- Yes. (She has been doing it ever since she was a kid = from then still to now)
- No. (She didn’t do anything for a couple of months: past simple for completed events in the past, so she is not out of action now)
- Yes. (He has known her for six years, so they still know each other now.)
- We don’t use the verb know in the continuous form because it is a stative verb.
- for + a period of time (for a couple of months) since + a point in time (since I was a kid)
