Trends may begin because:
- a celebrity wears a certain style
- a film or TV show popularises something
- something trends on Twitter or another social network
- a major sporting occasion such as the World Cup starts trends
- sometimes they start as a joke or a serious world event may affect how people feel about life and the world and cause a trend.
