He’s from a first-generation Chinese immigrant family.

He grew up in total poverty.

His dad passed away when he was thirteen so he had to drop out of school and start working to help support the rest of the family.

He started off selling ice creams on the streets. He then moved on to selling textiles door-to-door. He moved to the capital when he was about 21. He started a company selling outboard motors. He’s been able to send all his kids to the States

to study.

He still has rough edges / working class roots and still eats like a peasant.
