- Chris Gardner had a very difficult upbringing. He grew up living in poverty. He was treated badly and was looked after by people who weren’t his parents.
- Chris Gardner's journey from poverty to wealth began when he noticed a man in a red Ferrari and asked him how he had become so wealthy. When the man. said he was a stockbroker, Chris decided to do all he could to become a successful stockbroker too.
