Question
Use the ideas below to discuss about the pros and cons of home-cooked food. Use phrases from the language box to act out a dialogue, similar to the one in Ex.1a.
Answer
A: Hi. Harry. How's things? Have you got any plans for tonight?
B: Fine thanks. Actually I’m just on my way home to cook dinner.
A: Really? Home-cooked food is so time consuming.
B: I know, but it’s cheaper to cook at home and I know what the ingredients are unlike with processed food or ready meals.
A: You’re right, but it requires cooking skills and I don’t have any.
B: Why don’t you go on a cookery course?
A: I'm not sure that’s a good idea. That would be expensive.
B: OK, then. How about buying a step-by-step cookery book for beginners?
A: I suppose that would work. I guess I should make an effort to make home-cooked food.
B: How about coming to my place for dinner and I'll show you how to make a few basic recipes.
A: I'd love to. Thanks a lot.
