When my day starts I don't always see the sun. Bomeo is near the equator, but I live in the town of York in the north of England. For part of the year, it's still dark when I wake up. I don't sleep on a mat on the floor like people in the Penan tribe. I sleep in a bed with a thick duvet.

My family is not nomadic. We have always lived in the same house. In fact, the house used to belong to my grandparents. It's an old house and made of stone.

My mom is a doctor and my dad is a teacher. As well as my parents, I have two older brothers. My brothers and I are at school. Every morning, my dad cooks us porridge for breakfast. We have it with milk and honey. We all like it because it's tasty and healthy. For lunch, I often have a salad at the school cafeteria. In the evening, my brothers and my parents eat fish-and-chips or hamburgers. However, I am vegetarian, my favorite food is a cheese-and-tomato pizza! We don't go hunting for our food like the Penan people do.

After school, I get home before the rest of my family. My brothers play football, my mum goes to the gym and my dad works late. I do the washing-up and a few other small jobs, then I take the dog for a walk.

My family are kind and patient people, and always ready to help others. My brothers can be noisy at times! We don't often have guests, but when we do, we make sure they feel welcome. Although we all do different things, we are a close family, happy where we live, and don't want to move.
