Question

You want to go on a weekend break somewhere in your country. Your partner suggests two possible destinations. Use the phrases in the Useful Language box to act out your dialogue. You can use the dialogue in Ex. 1 as a model.

Answer

A: Hello. How can I help you?

B: Hi. I'm thinking of going on a weekend break and I'd like some more information.

A: Certainly. Do you have a destination in mind?

B: Somewhere in this country.

A: Right. Would you prefer a city break or somewhere in the countryside?

B: I don't know. Can you suggest somewhere?

A: Well, would you prefer somewhere quiet or busy?

B: Well I don't mind if it's quiet as long as there is some sort of nightlife to enjoy.

A: Have you thought about Edinburgh? There are lots of places to visit and there's a lively nightlife.

B: I think I'd prefer somewhere a bit quieter.

A: Ok. What about Bournemouth? It's very quiet, but very beautiful.

B: I'm not sure.

A: Let me give you a selection of travel brochures and then you can look through them and come back when you have a better idea of what you want.

B: Yes. Thank you. That's a great idea.
