Answer

New Year is an annual celebration on 31st December all over the world. Last year, I went to Scotland to celebrate New Year, which the Scottish people call Hogmanay, with my aunt.

Preparations started a day or two before when my aunt made lots of food for her guests. We all helped clean the house and decorated it with colourful balloons and streamers.

On the actual day, the celebration began at midnight when everyone kissed each other and sang Auld Lang Syne. Then friends and relatives visited and we all ate lots of food and had a big party. The first guest to enter the house with his right foot to bring good luck to the house for the rest of the year. We also watched a fantastic fireworks display.

Hogmanay is a great way to bring in the New Year. Everyone had a fantastic time. I can’t wait for next year!
