Question

  1. Compare the photographs and say how the weather affects how we feel and what we do. Use the phrases from the language box and the ideas to help you.
  2. Which season do you prefer? How does it make you feel and what activities do you like to do then? Tell the class.

Answer

a)

In picture A I can see a group of teenagers playing in the snow and in picture B I can see a group of teenagers playing volleyball, maybe on a beach. In picture A, it’s winter and the weather is cold and snowy, whereas in picture B, it’s summer and the weather is warm.

In winter, people usually feel a little depressed and bored, because it gets darker earlier and they can spend less time outdoors. In winter, it's fun to play outside in the snow, but otherwise it's nice to stay indoors when it's cold. In the summer, on the other hand, people usually feel energetic and optimistic, because the sun is shining and the days are longer. When the weather is warm, many people enjoy going to the beach or going camping.

b)

I prefer the summer because it makes me feel excited and energetic. I love the long evenings because then I can play sports after school. I usually play football with my friends and at weekends my family often goes to the beach. It's great fun!
