Question

Compare and contrast the pictures and say how important you think each of the jobs is. Use the language table and Ex.4 to help you.

Answer

  • The first picture shows a security guard. He is approaching a man in a hooded top with his hand up to stop the man. He is wearing an orange vest. Behind him there is a barrier with a stop sign on it. I think he is on duty at the entrance to a private property.
  • In the second picture, I can see a man in court. I think he is a lawyer. He is wearing a suit and a bow tie.
  • Both pictures show people who work in public service. A security guard helps to prevent crime and works outside. In contrast, a lawyer prosecutes criminals or defends innocent people accused of crimes in a courtroom. A security guard helps to prevent a crime whereas a lawyer deals with the after-effects of a crime. Both of them have a great deal of responsibility in society.
