Question

Look at the adjectives for describing food and answer the questions.

Answer

  1. baked, boiled, fried, grilled, roast
  2. savoury, spicy, sweet
  3. Roast means cooking with dry heat and basting with oil or fat. It is normally used for meat (although we do sometimes use it for potatoes or other vegetables). Baked is usually used when we mix together different ingredients (often using flour) to produce something else, e.g. bread or cake, but it can also be used for potatoes or apples when they are cooked in their skins.
  4. Fresh means the food is recently picked or prepared. Raw means the food is not cooked.
