- What is the difference in meaning between each pair of words from exercise 1a?

- Main photo → coins
- Top photo → a bill
- Middle photo → a cash till; cash
- Bottom photo → a discount

- A bargain is something which is cheaper than you expected. A discount is when money is taken off the usual price.
- A coin is made of metal and a bank note is made of paper.
- A cashpoint is a machine in or outside a bank or shop and you can take money out of it. A cash till is used in a shop or restaurant, and it's where the money you have paid is put.
- A credit card is a small plastic card which allows people to buy goods without using cash and pay for them later. Cash is coins and notes.
- A currency is the money of a country, e.g. pounds, dollars, and an exchange rate is the price at which we buy and sell money.
- A receipt is what we get after we buy something and a bill is a price of paper that tells us how much we have to pay.
- A wallet is for notes or bank cards and a purse is for coins.
