- Read the letter in exercise 1 again and underline the phrases which have the same meaning as the sentences (1-5) below.
- What is the difference between the phrases in exercise 2a and those in the letter in exercise 1? Which phrases are more suitable in a formal letter?

a)
- I would like to apply for the job of Tour Guide.
- I would be delighted to have the opportunity to live and work in the country.
- I believe that I possess excellent communication skills.
- Although I do not have any directly relevant experience, I understand that training would be given.
- I enclose / attach my C.V. and look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
b) The phrases in the letter are more formal and would be more suitable for a job application.
