Look at the stages for organising a story below. Then identify the four stages in the story in exercise 9.

Answer

  1. I remember when my little sister was born. I was ten years old, and I was staying in London with my parents. I knew my mother was having a baby, but I didn’t know how soon it would arrive. I was really hoping for a girl.
  2. It happened when I was at a friend’s house. It was her birthday and so she was having a party. My grandmother came to collect me,
  3. but when she told me the news I was so excited that I ran down the stairs, and I fell and broke my arm.
  4. I visited my mother and sister in hospital, and I had to spend the night there with my arm in plaster, too.
