- We use and before the smallest part of a big number ( one thousand and ten; ten million, six hundred and forty), and between whole numbers and fractions (three and a half; nine and three-quarters).
- We use the before dates (the fourth of June) and time periods (the fifth century; the nineteenth seventies).
