  2. The French Revolution started in Paris in July 1789 when an angry mob attacked the Bastille.
  3. My great-grandfather was badly wounded / injured in WWII. He finally died of his wounds / injuries in 1945.
  4. My great-grandma never got over the loss of her husband, but she brought up her family alone without any complaint.
  5. She can remember the Blitz in London - she saw the destruction of a number of houses in her street. Her house survived, but later had to be demolished because it was unsafe.
