  2. The oil floating on the ocean's surface turns into carcinogenic chemicals as a reaction due to the heat of the sun.
  3. Stefan Wan wanted to solve the environmental problem of excess fertiliser from farms causing harm to the countryside in his area.
  4. The aim of Fionn Ferreira's invention was to remove microplastics from water samples. He succeeded by creating a magnetic mixture made of oil and iron, which was able to magnetize a large percentage of microplastics and remove them from water.
  5. Katee Hughes carried out a project to test the plastic-eating capabilities of mealworms. She collected 1,500 worms and placed them in jars containing different kinds of plastic items to observe which items they preferred to decompose.
