Rewrite the sentences with reduced relative clauses. Which sentence cannot be rewritten?
Answer
- Prince William Bridge, built in 2012, is the newest in the city.
- Most of the buildings destroyed in the war have been rebuilt.
- Pupils living in the hills have to walk several hours to get to school.
- Jim finally proposed to Tina, which was what we've all been waiting for.
The fourth sentence cannot be rewritten because it uses "which" to refer to an entire clause rather than a noun. In this case, "which" does not have a corresponding noun to reduce.
