  2. The novel is set in 1906.

  4. A popular event on the morning of Bloomsday is the Bloomsday Breakfast, where people gather to eat a big fried breakfast similar to what the character Leopold Bloom eats in the novel.
  5. Two other ways people celebrate Bloomsday are by participating in guided tours following the plot and places mentioned in the book and by attending public readings or acting out scenes from the novel.
  6. It first became a public festival in 1956, which marked the 50th anniversary of the book, when famous writers made it more of a public celebration.
