Question
Listen and read. Find out.
Answer
Around half of British consumers read online reviews before making a purchase or visiting a restaurant or attraction.
Some companies pay for fake reviews to artificially boost their product ratings or reputation. They may do this to deceive potential customers into thinking their product or service is more popular or highly regarded than it actually is, thereby increasing sales or attracting more customers.
Big websites are using special software to detect fake reviews on their platforms. These systems are designed to identify patterns and anomalies in review behavior, such as suspiciously high volumes of reviews or repetitive language across multiple reviews, which may indicate fake or fraudulent activity. Despite these efforts, occasionally fake reviews still slip through the cracks and are not immediately detected.
