  1. William Shakespeare's company of players used both 'The Theatre' and 'The Curtain' during that time.
  2. Audiences in Shakespeare's time were lively and interactive. People did not sit down all the time, and they were rarely quiet during performances. The audience could move around, eat, cheer, boo, and sometimes even throw objects at the actors.
  3. During Shakespeare's time, there were no female actors, and young boys played the female roles.
  4. The boom in theatre building was stopped by the closure of all London theatres in 1642. They remained closed until after the restoration of the monarchy in 1660.
