Isidor Fink
- Lithuanian immigrant, owned a laundry, found dead from gunshot wounds inside his securely locked apartment
- a neighbour heard screams, called a police officer
- no gun in the apartment, suicide ruled out, no money taken
Travis Walton
- forestry worker, claimed to have been abducted by aliens
- six colleagues, driving with him, saw a golden disc and a beam of light that threw Travis to the ground, he disappeared for a few days, colleagues confirmed part of his story
- witnesses passed lie detector tests during investigation, Travis himself failed one and passed two more
