  1. How do we form the Present perfect continuous and the Present perfect simple?
  2. Look again at the sentences in exercise 4. Which sentence (1 or 2) describes the time spent doing the action, and which sentence (1 or 2) describes the number of things done?
  3. Why don't we use the continuous form with the verb wanted in sentence 3?

  1. Present perfect continuous: have / has + been + verb + -ing.; Present perfect simple: have / has + past participle.
  2. time spent doing the action: sentence 1; number of things done: sentence 2
  3. It's a state verb.
